FAQ

Drinking Systems

Is there a benefit when it comes to baby formula?
Definitely! The cleaner the water, the healthier the baby formula. We know that you’re boiling your water, but doing so only eliminates potential bacteria and viruses. Our system removes 99% of contaminants in your water, including chlorine and fluoride.
Do you offer instant hot and water chillers for your system?
Yes. We offer both an instant hot and chiller option for all of our systems as an add on.
How is Sorso different from Brita or other refrigerator filters?
Jug and refrigerator filters use tiny carbon filters that remove only chlorine and some bad taste and odor. We filter, purify and re-mineralize water and make it completely healthy to drink.
What makes Sorso better than standard reverse osmosis (RO) systems?
With Sorso, RO is only the first step in our process. RO unfortunately is not able to distinguish between the good and bad stuff, so it strips everything out of your water, leaving you with super pure and ACIDIC water. Based on information from the WHO, de-mineralized (Acidic) is not healthy to drink.

Not only does Sorso use RO, but we use a high efficiency (HE) RO membrane that minimizes waste to a 1:1 ratio, compared to traditional systems which offer a 4:1 ratio. We also have a higher purity output from our reverse osmosis membrane. Most importantly, we re-establish a healthy pH in your water by adding back natural ionized minerals (The Good).
How is your system different from the Kangen Water System or other electric ionizers?
Many products use electrolysis to Ionize water. However, water passing through the machine cannot be purified if electrolysis is to work. This means that whatever is dissolved into the water, including any and all contaminants, becomes ionized as well, meaning contaminants are more easily absorbed by the body in ionized water. A Sorso system purifies the water and then adds essential minerals that are ionized back into it, ensuring that your body is only absorbing the "good stuff."

Our ionization process is also done naturally without the use of electricity. This ensures that we are not changing the water's DNA structure and that our bodies will be able to properly absorb and accept the water you're drinking.
How often do you need to change the filter and cost?
We recommend changing filters once per year. Our smart faucet will indicate when it's the right time to change and we will remind you via email. The average cost is $140 shipped to your home or $250 with labour included.
Does your system use electricity?
Our drinking systems do not require electricity. Many products use electrolysis to Ionize water. However, water passing through the machine cannot be purified if electrolysis is to work. This means that whatever is dissolved into the water, including any and all contaminants, becomes ionized as well, meaning contaminants are more easily absorbed by the body in ionized water. A Sorso system purifies the water and then adds essential minerals that are ionized back into it, ensuring that your body is only absorbing the "good stuff.
What’s the difference between the whole home system and the drinking system?
The drinking system treats the water you drink and cook with, while the whole home system treats the water you use for laundry, bathing and cleaning.

The whole-home system will protect you from absorbing chemicals while showering and will protect your home's plumbing system and fixtures from scaling. The drinking water system is specifically designed for drinking water, cooking, making coffee and tea, ice, etc.
How much plastic waste is saved by using Sorso?
On average, a Sorso system will save 20 kilograms of plastic waste per year per family.
How long does it take to install and what is the cost of installation?
Installation is free, and typically takes 1 hour for a drinking water system under the sink and 1.5 hours for the whole home water system.
What makes Sorso water taste better?
Sorso water tastes better because we remove chlorine and add back essential minerals which make the water purer, lighter, and tastier.
Why is Sorso’s water full of tiny bubbles
These bubbles are negative hydroxyl ion oxygen bubbles and are created by the process of ionization and show the NEGATIVE oxidation reduction potential, or the antioxidant power of your water. The higher the -ORP, the more oxygen bubbles you’ll see in your water. The oxygen bubbles quickly dissipate, so drinking the water before the bubbles float away is extra beneficial. If you bottle and cap the water, over time you may not see any bubbles, however the water remains ionized. As there are minerals in the water, the hydroxyl ions will also be there. As blood cells carry oxygen for use throughout your body, those oxygen bubbles are important.
The oxygenated water helps increase energy and boosts your immune system. Low levels of oxygen in the blood can result in dizziness, fatigue, and lack of energy.
Remember, all those tiny oxygen bubbles mean the greatest -ORP levels, which go a long way to improving your health and well-being.
Do I need to get my water tested?
If you are on municipal water there’s no need for us to test the water as this is all public information. We know city water has chlorine, chloramines, pharmaceuticals, fluoride and other nasty stuff. Hardness and sediments may slightly vary. On well water we do recommend getting your water tested as this water isn’t being treated or monitored.
Can I take it with me to a new home?
Charging $100 to re-install the system into your new home, as long as it is in our service area
Can I install Sorso’s systems as a renter?
Yes, people who rent their homes can install our systems as well! Renters typically install a soap dispenser in the place of our faucets once they move and take the system with them.
What if I move?
When our clients decide to move homes, we offer a special relocation rate of only $100 to have our installers both remove the system at their old homes and re-install the system at their new one.

Whole Home Systems

Will this help with my dry skin?
Yes. Dry skin is caused by chemicals like chlorine which are present in all municipal sources of water. Sorso’s whole home water filtration system will give you chemical-free water at every tap in your home.
Do I still need my Brita?
Our system, like Brita, contains activated carbon that removes certain contaminants (depending on the type of carbon) so technically you have Brita quality water at every tap.

We do still recommend you install a sorso drinking water system as it will not only filter but purify and mineralise your water.
Why is it better to bathe/shower in filtered water?
Our skin is our largest organ, and when we shower/bathe we absorb any chemicals that are present in our water. A 30-minute shower is equivalent to drinking 2 litres of chlorinated water. Sorso’s Systems ensure a chemical free bath/shower protecting you from harsh chemicals present in your tap water.
Does your system affect water pressure?
Our systems are professional grade and will never affect your water pressure.

The riser (where the water passes through) is 1” in size which is larger than most homes pipes.

Our valves are high flow which allows a faster flow of water not allowing any flow restrictions.
How long does it take to install your system?
Our whole home systems will typically take 2 hours to install.
How much space does your system take up?
Our systems come in different sizes.

Size is dependent on the size of your home and family.

The size of a system for a family of 4 is 10”x54” with the potential of a brine tank(18.1x34.7) for salt if you install a softener or mixed bed.
What is the benefit of having a water softener system Installed
A water softener system will remove calcium from your water which will prevent spotting and calcification on shower glass, bathroom fixtures, faucets and glassware.

A water softening system will also reduce the amount of soaps and detergents you use by 75% and make your clothes last longer with brighter colours.

A water softener is also great for your hair and skin!
Do I need both a softener/Whole Home Filter and Drinking Water System?
To have a complete solution, we recommend having both systems installed in your home. One to protect your body from absorbing chemicals commonly found in tap water and your home's infrastructure and the other for drinking and cooking water and for making coffee, tea and ice.
Are all whole home systems the same size?
We always customize our whole home systems to your home and family’s needs, making sure you are getting fully treated water at every tap!
What do I require to have a system installed?
Systems are typically installed in a home's mechanical room. We install the system after the water main before the water gets distributed to the rest of your home, ensuring that your whole home is treated. To install your system you will need access to a plug, water main and floor drain.
What type of maintenance is required?
Water softeners require the addition of a 20 kilogram bag of salt or potassium once a month. They also require a rebedding once every 10 years. Whole Home de-chlorinators require a rebedding once every 4-5 years depending on your water quality.
How does Sorso’s whole home system differ from traditional systems?
Sorso offers high quality products with 12 years of warranty.

We are one of the only companies that Calchar Carbon

Which has a high absorptive capacity and will remove things like lead, mercury, arsenic, fluoride, chlorine and by-products of chlorine.

Our softening resin is high efficiency, which means it requires less salt or potassium.

It also has a shorter diffusion path, which results in more rapid softening than traditional ion exchange resin.

This means superior toughness and durability and requires 50% less water to regenerate.

All of our valves also come metered, which means your system will backwash based on water consumption, not time.
Are all whole-home systems the same size and price?
No. We customize our whole-home systems to your home and family’s needs, making sure you are getting fully treated water at every tap!
Does anyone need to come to my home prior to installation?
No. We do not need to send anyone to your home prior to installation. We will ask for you to send a photo or video of your potential installation area.

Water quality is public information so there’s no need for us to come and test your water. If anyone comes to test your municipally treated water, it’s probably an aggressive sales tactic that we don’t support.
What maintenance is required?
Our water softeners are very easy to maintain, just add a bag of salt once/month.

A rebedding (Deep Clean) is required every 10-12 years.

Our water filtration system requires zero maintenance.

Rebedding is required once every 4 years.

Our mixed bed system is similar to the softener in that you need to add salt, but because it contains carbon you must rebed every 4 years.

All of our systems come with a 12 year warranty.
Do you all offer a Salt-free Softening Solution?
Yes. We offer a premium salt free solution.

All Salt-Free solutions include a whole home Filtration system (chemical removal).
